About 1949, a group of devoted Christian Science students decided they would meet together for regular church services. First, they met at the Xenia Hotel in an apartment and shortly, they moved their meetings to the home of one of the founding members on W. Market St.They called themselves “The Christian Science Group”.
February, 1956 – The group acquired formal status of a Christian Science Society. A stone building was purchased from the Society of Friends on the corner of High and Chestnut Streets.
Sept 24, 1961 – Dedicatory service for the large stone church.
1971 – The Christian Science Society fulfilled all requirements and became a “First Church of Christ, Scientist”.
1984 – The stone Church building was sold to Apostolic Gospel Temple and the Christian Science Church moved to a temporary location at the corner of Detroit and Second Streets in downtown Xenia. Preparation began to develope a new church facility.
1984 to 1994 – Land is purchased, a church designed, it's construction takes place and finish work is completed.
March 20, 1994 – The dedication service for the current modern and comfortable church building took place.
